who needs sleep

I thought my current sleep schedule was kinda out of whack but for the next two weeks I may come close to dying.

I have 11 Days to do almost all of this…

Entry Portfolio: Due March 10th
Four pieces of creative work and one special assignment that contain the following:
1. Two examples of two-dimensional (2D) design that demonstrate the following

b. The principles of Gestalt
c. Compositional structure-asymmetrical balance (this must be
demonstrated in at least one of the two pieces)
d. Demonstration of color theory (specifically hue-value-chroma) through
pattern
2. Two examples of drawing that demonstrate skills chosen from the following list:
(These works must not be drawn from photography or the student’s imagination.)
a. Two-point perspective
b. Figure drawing (nude figure preferred)
c. Still life
3. One Special Assignment: Continuation of a story

Sketchbook Requirements: Due March 7th

1. 2 cross contour drawings
2. 3 organizational line drawings showing different angles of one object

The curse that is my sleep life.

Well it is 3:30 a.m. I went to sleep early tonight "1" in hopes of maybe getting some much needed extra sleep. It did not work. I'm kinda drousy but not sleepy enough to fall asleep. My eyes are heavy but my brain is busy working on who knows what. I have the strange urge to go buy something to drink at 7-11. I always do late at night. Weird.

I did just suddenly think of a sweet stencil idea in the last 45 seconds though. Rock on no sleep. I'm always my most creative in the early mornings.

o man. I was a little skeptical as to leaving and going to go get something to drink because I have not always had the best of luck going out by myself to run quick errands late at night....but I did anyways. I shut the door took two steps and noticed I forgot my wallet. No big deal you say...well my door key was in that wallet. So not only was I trapped outside the door, I had no phone as well. I only had one option. Scale the balcony in the rain. (for a second time). After about 30 seconds debate I decided to do it. Got back inside and grabbed my wallet and phone having even more doubts about my little trip to the store. But nothing else happened so all is good. I got two things of ocean spray cran-apple juice and two boxes of mint icecream cones (shut up bjoy) for 6 dollars. Good ol'e Albertsons savings card.

I got off work just in time to go check out the show at Art Prostitute tonight. The place was packed, and I'm guessing it was because it was 10:30 and not 7 oclock like last time I went. No one wants to get thier drink on at 7 oclock.

The art was awesome as expected. There were 21 pieces out on display with 4 more extras you could see if upon request. I did not know this until I got home so I missed those. Either way, there were so many people there that I never saw Mike Giant or Dalek around. I'm sure they were somewhere mixed in. Seeing some of thier work really inspires me to make more art, and possibly sell it someday. With the prices of the works by giant ranging around 300 bucks a pop I was pretty amazed. Dalek was a little more greedy I guess and wanted up to 1050 bucks for a 16 by 16 acrylic on wood piece. Maybe I will be banking it like that one day. The actual showroom was pretty cool looking as well. With painting done by giant and dalek the days before it layed down a nice canvas for the individual pieces. I especially liked the huge tag done by Giant on the wall.

The show will be here through may 2nd if anyone still wants to check it out in a less crowded atmosphere.

P.S. Another bonus of the opening show is live music. Hip hop DJ all the way tonight.

A slight twist

Well the Dalek/Giant1 lecture apparently got cancelled because noone was there. A group of about 5 people were trying to figure out the problem as well when I walked up. So That put a damper on my night.

But I did find this

It is 6:15 in the morning and I finally finished my book. Having gone to bed before 4 oclock once in the past week and a half is starting to change my sleeping habits quite drastically. Owell.... more awake time for me. Averaging about 17 to 18 hours of awake time a day now. Sweet. Time to sleep.

Heads up on some upcoming events in the art world. Giant and Dalek are doing a show at good ol'e Art Prostitute starting the 26th. They are having a print and book signing at Grey Matters Gallery in dallas on Friday the day before.

Well I was about to give up on the ole spam email thing when I decided to check it one last time, and low and behold there was a reply. For all who don't know what I'm talking about I'll catch you up......

So I went and talked to my advisor yesterday and learned some very interesting facts. The way my classes are lined up I can only take certain classes after takeing certain classes sooooo that means I can not finish college and get the hell out. In fact, to be a Comm. Design major you have to be excepted into the program by a Entry Portfolio Review. This review takes place once a year. This year it is March 20th. "If" I am excepted into the program then starting next fall I will still have "3" yeah thats right "3" more years of school. If I am not excepted into the program I would have to wait until next march and try again: hence; makeing it 4 years of school left. What happened to going to college.... graduating in 4 years.... getting a job. Well I officially feel dumb and extremly frustrated at the fact that If I continue this route I will be in college for 7 years.... without the initials M.D. after my name. And.... ruling in the fact that starting summer '06 I will no longer be reliant on my parents in any way, I'm kinda having some doubts about my future. Working 15 hours a week at Fast Forward is not going to cut it any longer.

I'm going to talk to my advisor tommorrow about seeing what I can do to get out of college sooner.... maybe something where I can take classes at anytime. If I don't get into the program I'm going to shoot myself in the face.
